Opening Night: Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Opening Night (“the app”) is a private, invitation-only app for one group of friends who go to the movies together. It is run by its organizer, Dino W. (“we”). This page explains what the app keeps, why, and how to have it deleted.
What the app keeps
Only what the club needs to plan movie nights:
- Your name, as a first name and last initial, set by the organizer when he invites you.
- Your picture, if you choose one: a photo you pick, an emoji, or just your initial.
- What you do in the app: your RSVPs, the showtimes you say work, whether you are coming, your guesses and ratings, and whether you were checked in at the theater. If you bring a guest, the same for them, under the name you give.
- Ticket shares: what each person owes the organizer for tickets and whether it has been paid. Payments themselves happen outside the app (Venmo, Apple Cash, or cash). The app never sees or stores card or bank details.
- Photos that members add to a movie night.
- A notification token for your phone, so the app can send you reminders, and which kind of phone it is.
- A sign-in record: a random identifier for the login on your phone. There are no passwords, and the app does not collect your email address or phone number.
What it does not do
- No advertising, and no ad or analytics tracking of any kind.
- Your information is never sold or shared with anyone outside the club.
- No location, contacts, microphone, or camera access. The photo library is opened only when you choose a picture or add photos; the calendar only when you tap “Add to my calendar”.
Who can see it
Only signed-in members of the club. Some things stay hidden until they should be seen: for example, other people’s guesses until you lock in yours, and ratings until you have rated. The organizer can see and correct the club’s records, as the person who runs the nights and buys the tickets.
Where it is stored
On Supabase, a hosted database service, in the United States. Push notifications are delivered through Expo and Apple. Movie titles, posters and trailers come from The Movie Database (TMDB); the app does not send TMDB anything about you.
Deleting your account
In the app: You → Delete my account. This deletes your sign-in, your picture, your notifications and your name straight away. If you were never part of a movie night, everything about you is deleted. If you were, your guesses and ratings stay on those nights under “Former member”, without your name or picture, so the group’s scores still add up.
You can also ask the organizer to delete your account or anything you added, at the address below.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 13, and is used only by people the organizer invites personally.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
